Brenda and I are often wondering what games exactly will be shown in our area on Sundays. We no longer have this problem, however, due to this site. It provides maps of the major network coverage of the upcoming weekend’s games.

Dr. Z at CNNSI has his typical insight as he discusses the first week of NFL football. I particularly like is assessment of the Colts-Ravens game:
My favorite game of the weekend was Colts-Ravens. I love a big game that’s low scoring, not through ineptitude, but through great defense. I love it when big plays [...]

This is interesting. CNNSI has projected the entire NFL season. Obviously they just pulled this out of their asses, but whatever. Interesting notes:
Packers go 8-8 and don’t make the playoffs.
Ravens beat the Steelers in the AFC North, but Pittsburgh get in the playoffs as a wildcard.
Titans finish last in the AFC South, [...]

Well, I guess I have to eat my words on Maurice Clarett. He’s going to be cut by the Denver Broncos this week according to his agent.
Unable to practice much or play at all during the preseason, Clarett will be released by the Denver Broncos later this week, his agent said Sunday.

It looks like Ricky Williams is back in action. In yesterday’s preseason game, he ran for 59 yards and a touchdown in the first half against Tampa Bay. With any luck, he’ll be a force on the field when he gets back from his suspension.

I picked Brett Favre in the Ames Super Tecmo draft because I think he’s going to have a big year and finish his career with a bang. He’s really worked hard to prepare for the season and will be looking to put up big numbers, I think.

Last night, I particpated in the Athletic Supporters draft, building my team the Cambridge Cantabs. I was number five out of twelve. I couldn’t get Julius Jones, because I didn’t want to draft him first and he was taken early in the second round. Oh, well. I still got a strong [...]

It looks like Eagles running back Correll Buckhalter is out for the season with knee surgery. He was one of the running backs that I drafted in Ames Super Tecmo, so I was forced to drop him. I replaced him with a backup kicker - San Diego’s Nate Kaeding.

Jerry Rice is entering his final season. Largely considered the best receiver of all time, this is his 21st year as a pro, although his first season in a Broncos uniform. It is unfortunate for him to be relegated to backup status, but it’ll be great to see him on the field.

Well, he’s probably not really unknown, but ESPN has a nice gushing article about the Bucs cornerback.
Talk about well-rounded. Consider these statistics: Barber has 650 career tackles, including 70-plus stops in each of his seven years as a starter. His 23 interceptions, which include a career-best 10 in 2001, are the fourth-most in franchise history.
