« 5 September 2008 | 15:22 | NFL | No Comments »

Brenda and I are often wondering what games exactly will be shown in our area on Sundays. We no longer have this problem, however, due to this site. It provides maps of the major network coverage of the upcoming weekend’s games.

Ohio State vs. Michigan Now After Thanksgiving

« 12 December 2007 | 19:28 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

The Big Ten is moving to a thirteen game schedule. That means that the Ohio State/Michigan game is now going to be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Run Mapping

« 12 November 2007 | 17:37 | General, Sports | No Comments »

I’m not much of a runner, but occasionally I get myself psyched up to go out for a few miles. What I do really like, however, is keeping obsessive track of my activity. When the Google Maps API came out, I thought “It would be really cool to use this to create maps of jogs [...]

Time to Get Back in Shape

« 28 March 2006 | 9:15 | General, Sports | No Comments »

Water polo has now been over for about three weeks, and I’ve taken all three off. I’m getting even further out of shape than I was before. I went in to swim this morning, and I have a plan to get back into things and get ready for National League and next season. I’ve put [...]

USC is Overrated

« 1 January 2006 | 19:39 | NCAA Football | No Comments »

Finally, someone is calling out ESPN’s ridiculous segment concluding that the 2005 USC team is the best college football team in history. For instance, the ESPN crew discussed a hypothetical game between USC and the 1997 Michigan Wolverines. That Michigan team had a spotty offense, but its defense was phenomenal, allowing less than nine points [...]

Maurice Clarett Wanted for Robbery

« 1 January 2006 | 18:46 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

Well, my days as a Maurice Clarett apologist may have come to an end. It appears that he is wanted for armed robbery. Clarett, 22, who helped the Buckeyes win the national championship in 2002, fled when the bar owner or manager, who knew Clarett and the victims, came into the alley and identified him [...]

Dr. Z’s Week 1 Recap

« 15 September 2005 | 17:51 | NFL, Sports | No Comments »

Dr. Z at CNNSI has his typical insight as he discusses the first week of NFL football. I particularly like is assessment of the Colts-Ravens game: My favorite game of the weekend was Colts-Ravens. I love a big game that’s low scoring, not through ineptitude, but through great defense. I love it when big plays [...]

Ohio State vs. Texas Preview

« 8 September 2005 | 23:06 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

I, like many college football fans, am really wound up about this Ohio State-Texas game. It has the potential to be a real classic with hard-hitting defensive style. Even though I’m a Texan I will be rooting for OSU. I’ve been skeptical that Ohio State could beat Texas, but the quotes coming out of Columbus [...]

CNNSI’s NFL Playoff Picks

« 5 September 2005 | 8:27 | NFL, Sports | No Comments »

This is interesting. CNNSI has projected the entire NFL season. Obviously they just pulled this out of their asses, but whatever. Interesting notes: Packers go 8-8 and don’t make the playoffs. Ravens beat the Steelers in the AFC North, but Pittsburgh get in the playoffs as a wildcard. Titans finish last in the AFC South, [...]

First Look at Heisman Candidates

« 3 September 2005 | 22:37 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

Here’s the first shots at Heisman rankings. Up front is, not surprisingly, Matt Leinart (USC), Reggie Bush (USC), Vince Young (Texas), Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma) and Chris Leak (Florida). Their dark horses include Ted Ginn Jr. (Ohio State) and Reggie McNeal (Texas A&M). If USC takes any missteps, I would guess it knocks Leinart and Bush [...]

Associated Press Preseason Poll

« 2 September 2005 | 22:45 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

To round things out here, the Preseason AP Poll is out. The top ten: USC Texas Tennessee Michigan LSU Ohio State Oklahoma Virginia Tech Miami (FL) Florida Just for fun, my predictions are… OSU moves up, Oklahoma moves down. Miami moves up, Tennessee moves down. Iowa moves into the top ten and LSU moves out.

CNNSI Bowl Predictions

« 2 September 2005 | 8:49 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

CNNSI has put up their NCAA Football Bowl Predictions and it’s an interesting set. I’m a big fan of Ohio State and all, but I’m not sure it’s totally realistic to put them in the national championship game. Anyway – I’ve listed their BCS bowl predictions below. Rose Bowl – USC (BCS No. 1) vs. [...]

College Football Team Previews

« 1 September 2005 | 22:57 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

Can you tell that I love football? If you came here to read about Lisp, you’re probably a little disappointed these days. ESPN has college football team previews up and here are some notes from teams I tend to keep an eye on. Ohio State Returning Offensive Starters: 9 Returning Defensive Starters: 9 Last Season: [...]

Stewart Mandel on Picking OSU

« 31 August 2005 | 19:56 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

Stewart Mandel answered the question of why he thinks Ohio State will contend for the national championshipp: …there are eight teams — Texas, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, Miami, LSU and Iowa — that I see as being on roughly the same footing. Of those, however, the Buckeyes are the only ones who possess all [...]

Clarett To Be Cut

« 29 August 2005 | 16:50 | NFL, Sports | No Comments »

Well, I guess I have to eat my words on Maurice Clarett. He’s going to be cut by the Denver Broncos this week according to his agent. Unable to practice much or play at all during the preseason, Clarett will be released by the Denver Broncos later this week, his agent said Sunday. “The kid [...]

Upcoming Freshman Stars at PSU

« 29 August 2005 | 8:56 | NCAA Football, Sports | No Comments »

Corey McCartney at CNNSI discusses two new freshman recruits at Penn State that could have a big impact on the season. Derrick Williams, WR – 6-0, 189 pounds High school: Eleanor Roosevelt, Greenbelt, Md. Who said Joe Paterno lost his recruiting touch? With 4.31 speed in the 40-yard-dash, the explosive Williams could make Nittany Lions [...]
