Bibtex File URL from CiteULike

I’ve been using CiteULike more and more to track my references, but up until now I’ve still been maintaining a separate bibtex file that I edit by hand. I’ve decided that having pretty spacing in my file is not worth the extra effort compared to:

wget http://www.citeulike.org/bibtex/user/rpadams -O rpadams.bib

Anyway, CiteULike is highly recommended.

    The bib files aren’t perfect:

1/ .bib files from citeulike don’t seem to have the necessary formatting to get capitalization correct on proper nouns (eg {B}ayesian). I don’t know if this is the users’ or citeulike’s fault however.

2/ Special characters (common in authors names if not generally) don’t seem to get converted to latex. I guess this wouldn’t be a problem if you used a latex that supported unicode. Most citeulike users seem to just throw away diacritics…

My reference system gets these things right, but is horrible in so many other ways. At least I know it won’t disappear, which a web service might. I guess it’s safe as long as you can export your references.
