Google Maps Beta
As reported on Slashdot, Google has introduced Google Maps which at first glance appears to be a big UI improvement over existing online maps. In particular, I like the dragging feature. Unfortunately, it seems to only work for the USA right now. Hopefully they’ll do the same thing for the UK at some point in the future.
One nice feature that I haven’t had much luck with in the past is using airports as addresses. I’d like to be able to punch in AIRPORT CODE to HOTEL ADDRESS for example and just have it work. It is never the case that I know the actual address of the airport. In any case, Google will let you do that. You can submit queries like “CMH to Toledo, OH” and it will return something that makes sense.
