JibJab Wins Settlement
JibJab put out an absolutely hilarious parody of both Kerry and Bush to the tune of "This Land is Your Land." They were promptly threatened with a lawsuit for copyright infringement by Ludlow Music, Inc. JibJab turned to the Electronic Frontier Foundation for legal assistance and has recently won a settlement. It appears that Woody Guthrie published the song as sheet music in 1945 and did not renew the copyright when it expired in 1973, thus causing it to enter the public domain.
