Ted Kennedy, Security Threat
CNN reported today that Ted Kennedy, a Democratic Senator from Massachusetts, has had difficulty flying commerical airlines after a "T. Kennedy" was placed on the secret security watch list. It is difficult to guess whether this was the current administration giving Kennedy a poke, or if it was a good-faith action to track someone with an alias of "T. Kennedy."
The most troubling part was not that he was placed on the list, but that it took him several phone calls over three weeks to get removed from this list. This is a very senior senator! If this is the sort of Kafkaesque treatment that one of the most powerful politicians of our time can expect, what would a normal citizen find?
Incidentally, I am leaning against the idea that this was a conspiratorial action, as it was ultimately resolved with a personal phone call from Tom Ridge to the Senator.
